Do I Really Need All These IT Services?

Understanding the strategy behind "Layered Security" and why there is no silver bullet in IT.

The Short Answer

No. You don't have to have every single service we offer. However, relying on just one or two tools is no longer enough to protect your business data and reputation.

To be completely transparent: even with every service in place, no IT provider can guarantee you will never face a cyber threat. What a layered approach does is prevent a single failure from turning into a total disaster.

The Long Answer

When business owners look at their IT service reports, it's completely normal to ask, "Why do I need email security, device security, network isolation, AND backups? Isn't one good antivirus enough?"

Twenty years ago, it might have been. Today, cyber threats are sophisticated businesses. To defend against them, we use an industry-standard approach called Layered Security (sometimes called Defense in Depth).

Think of securing your business data like securing your physical office or home:

  • Domain & DNS Security is your perimeter fence. It stops obvious threats from even reaching your property.
  • Firewalls & Network Isolation are the locks on your front door. They control exactly who is allowed to step inside.
  • Device & Email Security is the alarm system. If a thief manages to pick the lock or trick an employee into opening the door, this system catches them in the hallway.
  • User Awareness Training ensures your staff aren't simply handing the keys over to strangers.
  • Local & Cloud Backups are your fireproof safe and insurance policy. If the absolute worst happens and the house burns down, you haven't lost what matters most and you can rebuild quickly.

Why Layers Matter

No single security product is 100% perfect. A sophisticated phishing email might slip past the spam filter. If it does, we rely on your Device Security to catch the malicious link. If the device security fails and a virus executes, we rely on Network Isolation to stop it from spreading to the rest of the office.

If you only have one layer of defense, a single failure means a total breach.

By layering our services, we ensure that if a threat slips past one net, there is always another net waiting to catch it.

Tailoring the Layers to You

We don't believe in forcing businesses to buy things they don't need, but we do believe in giving you the complete picture of your risk.

The services on your report showing as Covered are the layers you currently have in place. The ones showing No Coverage are gaps in the net.

Depending on your industry, budget, and risk tolerance, some gaps might be acceptable to you. Our goal is simply to make sure you know exactly where those gaps are so you can make an informed decision for your business.
